Alyssa's Weekly Wrap Up

Book Trailers: A desperate attempt within the publishing industry?
Book trailers are one of the latest waves of marketing techniques used to publicize books, especially among self-published authors. Even a few well known authors are using book trailers to spread the word about their novels. It seems like a great marketing move because trailers work well for movies, so why wouldn’t trailers be beneficial for books as well?

'Hannah' by Sharon Poppen
I don't really have a genre preference when it comes to reading. As long as it's well written, has a good plot and maintains my interest, I'll read just about anything. The book Hannah by Sharon Poppen is the first western I've read. I wasn't too sure whether or not I would like it because I had the thought in my head all westerns were about wagon trails. But, this wasn't the case with this book. It was full of suspense set in a western environment.

When Giving Becomes too Much
There are points in our life when we all need a little help. Sometimes, we need a lot of help and other times only just a caring hand to help us up. There's nothing wrong with asking for help in times of need, and nothing wrong with offering to help when you see someone's in need. Let's face it, life's hard and every one needs help from time to time to succeed, but there can come a point when helping someone hinders their own abilities to succeed on their own two feet. I see this happen more and more, commonly with younger generations.

Google's Panda and the Keyword Confusion
Even though Google's new Panda platform has been in place for a while now, there's still a lot of confusion surrounding the changes and new requirements. Recently, I was asked if the new Panda platform changed how keywords are used? In short, no. Well, basically no if you're already optimizing content correctly. However, if your optimization skills aren't too sharp you'll need to refine them the ensure you achieve a high SERP ranking.
